While I have always identified myself as an artist, I have recently found that I am more of a storyteller who uses images rather than words. There have been ideas I gave up on, but one has persisted since my high school days. It has grown as I have, waiting for my skills to catch up with the aspirations I have in my mind. Though it only exists as an idea in my head, the story has come a long way from the throw away character I drew as a freshman in high school.

“More than 80% of the world’s oceans remain unexplored.” (National Geographic) This is something I have often heard in science classes. It has left me wondering what could be down there, deeper than sunlight can see. This became the foundation for an aspect of my story I had already been toying with. In the world of my own creation, sea monsters are the masters of the deep and only they can light the waters so far beneath the surface.
